I’m Seba Castillo, a songwriter, producer, guitarist and mixing engineer based in Brussels, Belgium.

I have 19 years of experience as a guitarist and 10 years working professionally in music production, recording, live sound and broadcast audio.

Career highlight is all instruments, mixing and mastering in "Manfred" - The Old Ones, featuring Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden), Andy LaRocque (ex-King Diamond), Snowy Shaw (ex-King Diamond), Murat Ilkan and others.

My main service is full song production: taking a demo, riff or unfinished idea and shaping it into a finished record. I also offer session guitar, bass, drum programming, mixing, mastering, pre-production, lyric writing and songwriting. We can also start from scratch and build a song through final production.

What I bring is perspective across the whole process. I don’t hear a guitar part separately from the arrangement, or a mix separately from the songwriting. I’m always asking what makes the song work and what should be pushed further.

My roots are in old-school Heavy Metal, Punk and Hard Rock, with influences like Michael Schenker, Mercyful Fate and 80s Megadeth, but I’m just as interested in a song whether it comes from Blues, Country, Indie or somewhere unexpected.

Interview with Seba Castillo

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do falls into two areas. Sometimes a client comes to me with a demo, riff or unfinished song and hires me to help turn it into a finished production. Other times I’m brought in for a specific role, such as session guitar, bass, drum programming, mixing or mastering. As a producer, I also help identify what a song still needs to reach its final form, whether that means arrangement changes, stronger parts, different instrumentation, editing, production choices, or simply knowing what not to add, what to remove, or when to leave something alone. The scope depends on the project, but in every case I try to understand the song first and make sure every decision serves the artist’s vision and what they want the song to say and communicate.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My guitar, an amp, a Marshall cabinet loaded with Celestion Blackbacks and V30s, a Shure SM57, and a computer with a solid DAW setup... It’d be pretty cool to hear what a desert island sounds like with a Marshall cranked all the way up
