Interview with Felix Jensen

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Thats a tricky Question...from the Feeling and the Sound I would choose Analog, because it inspires me and just makes fun...Digital on the other Hand just handy as hell and convinient...lets call it a Remis

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I will give you my best!

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: The most fun thing I find with working with bands is, to meet new people and try to understand what they want to achieve. The most satisfying thing in my Work to hear where you started and what comes out...just hearing how it evolves to a final Record

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: In Mastering we dont do any magical thing and it isnt just make it louder. Its a combination of experience and understanding the piece of music and its Genre.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: What is your Vision and for what do you want your Music?

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: If you search for a Recording Engineer, ask him if you could make a quick Zoom Call or a real life meeting to know him better and decide if he or she is the right person to trust him, to record your Music.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I do Recording, Mixing and Mastering since 2016. I started in School with a 8 Channel Interface to Record my own Band and was quickly hooked in this whole Tech-World. I was getting better and better pretty quick and after School, I started my Bachelor at the SAE Hamburg and learned much more and had the chance to do many productions in the Music Industry as well as in the Movie World...

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: My style is more like a mindset. I think if something dont have any dirt or "inperfection" in it, its boring...

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: A good performance is half the Record...a great performance is 99% of success

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: On the most part, I´ll work with Indie Rock, Punk and Alternative Pop Artists.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: I think my strongest Skill is that I dont want to Aim for a "normal" or "boring" Sound. In my opinion a lot of Songs these days sound overprocessed without any Dirt in it. I love to find new sounds and try to achieve this with various Recording Techniques.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: In my Studio, I am using a DDA Analog Console from the 1990´s and a RME Interface. With that I could go 32 Channels in and out of my DAW. My Home DAW is Reaper, but I also have the Skill to work with Pro Tools (not owned), Ableton, Nuendo (not owned) and FL Studio.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: In most Cases I am an all Production Engineer. That means the Bands come to me and want to be Recorded, Mixed and Mastered. The Second most common service for me is Mastering...
