Interview with atri
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: ive been producing music for 7 years and engineering for 4. i grew up listening to anything and everything, and my upstairs neighbor blasting his music on the weekend. i made a few beats back then when i was really young, but i didnt start producing for real until I was 13. when COVID hit, i decided to take my craft seriously and focus on mixing and improving my production skills. now, im studying audio engineering at SAE Institute. ive built a following on soundcloud with almost a thousand people. ive also been producing, mixing, and developing with small artists from all over the world, and amassed over 1 million plays.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: my sound is cool and warm if that makes sense. i love adding warmth to whatever im working on, but how i process the sounds before makes them sound cool, so i get this very interesting mix of the two.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: sound selection is 90% of the process, the fewer things you HAVE to finish in the mix the better.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: mainly neo-soul, with rap being a close second, but im comfortable doing any genre.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: a LOT of difference places from smino to alica keys to like lil yatchi to dijon. i take inspiration everywhere, if i have it in my playlist I'm taking inspiration from it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: mixing and mastering
