Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I've mastered a few tracks for some big artists like you see in my credits. The process was great and the feeling of working on music that you're a big fan off is just amazing.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Filling out all these questions while I should be getting started on mastering the next album. So time to get some music though these tubes.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: That guy overthere!

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: For master? Analog. Just because I love to listen, turn knobs and hear the music instead of 'see' the music. For mixing? Best of both worlds.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: To listen to your wishes and make the changes if needed without charging you. I will give the same attention to a new artists releasing their first track as I give to the biggest star on the planet.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Working with all different kinds of people and music. I love mastering an Sing & Song Album and later that day working on something completely different. The diveristy is what I love the most.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: How fast can you deliver? - 5 - 7 days. But most of the time in 2 days.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: Making music loud. It's only a really small percentage of what we do.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: - Tell me about the track/album. What inspired you? - Which other artists inspired you? - What is your deadline?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Reach out! I am always happy to listen to your music and give my thoughts. Even if you decide to now work with me. Mastering Engineers love their jobs so don't be afraid to talk to them.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: My lovely Sontec EQ, ngBusCompressor, Blackbox HG-2 and my PSIs & HEDDPhones I guess?

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: If been mastering for years now. Started off playing guitar in a lot of different bands. After that I decided to start producing music and shortly got well known in the Psytrance scene. I've played on festivals all around the world now.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Warm, Puncy and Balanced.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: I would love to work with The Cure, their music is just something special for me personally.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Use a Mid Side EQ to make room for elements and create the perfect Stereo Field. Mid Side processing is often forgotten but this is the secret to a good mix.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Almost everything. I come from a EDM background with strong roots in the alternative side like Drum & Bass, Psytrance, Underground techno etc. But in my daily life I listen a lot to Rock, Reggae, Sing & Song and acoustic music.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Listening. To both music and the artist.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Emotion and years of expierence.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: First I listen to the track, try to understand the emotion the artist put into it. If needed I listen to it on different systems, in my car, on headphones etc. Then I'll get to it and do my magic. After sending a first version to the client I always tell them to let me know if they want anything different. It's really important to me the artist is happy with the results and I will never charge you for revisions or anything like that.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I use PSI A23-M monitoring, this gives me the best details possible. Combine this with the 'Fun' part. The analog chain, starting from the highest grade converters to a custum build Mastering Console. From there I use a selection of really high quality EQs, Compressors, Tubes and Saturation gear. Every song is different and will need a different device to give it that flavour to bring the mix together.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I am a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, they inspired me a lot.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Mastering in both Stereo as Stem. I use a fully analogue mastering chain of only the highest graded gear. I find it really important to connect to the track and listen to the artist, give it the same emotion the artist intended.
