Dan is a producer/engineer/mixer with 15+ years in the Australian music industry, credits spanning Tones & I, Boy George, King Princess, Noah Kahan, Gurrumul and more. With 8 ARIA-winning records and over half a billion streams (and counting), he works from Brooklet Recording in Byron Bay.
Dan is a producer, engineer, mixer and multi-instrumentalist with over 15 years experience shaping records across alternative, indie and left-of-centre pop. Having worked from some of Australia’s most respected studios - including Forbes St. Studios (Universal Music), Sony Studios and Studios 301 - he has contributed to releases for artists including Tones & I, Boy George, King Princess, Noah Kahan, Gurrumul, Bernard Fanning, Amy Shark, DMA’S, Conan Gray and more.
With credits on 8 ARIA-winning records and over half a billion streams (and counting), Dan has built a reputation for creating artist-first records that balance the emotion and spontaneity of live performance with immersive, modern sonics. His work often blends organic instrumentation, textured guitars, analog synths and atmospheric detail into productions that feel both expansive and deeply human.
Known for a relaxed, collaborative approach, Dan works closely with artists to uncover what makes their sound unique rather than imposing a fixed formula - whether producing from the ground up, refining arrangements, capturing performances or crafting detailed mixes.
Based at Brooklet Recording in Byron Bay, Dan specialises in emotionally resonant, sonically rich records that blur the line between organic performance and modern production.

Interview with Dan Frizza
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently run my sessions from Brooklet Recording, a purpose-built studio nestled in the hinterland of Byron Bay, created by Bernard Fanning and Nick DiDia. Based out of the B Room, he runs his mix, production, overdub and daily sessions, while also utilising the larger live room next door for full band tracking when needed. With his gear permanently set up and carefully curated into a dedicated working space, Dan’s sessions run seamlessly, with all the right tools within arm’s reach to move fluidly between writing, recording, mixing and finding those unique and wonderful sounds.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I've been really getting behind producers like Shawn Everett and Kevin Parker lately. They both have their own signature sound but have a particular quality and energy that is felt on each track they touch.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually work on projects from the demo phase right through to the final release ready version of the song.
