Interview with Tom Breyfogle
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Birds in the Airport. I write/produce the music and play every instrument.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Movie Trailers, Birds in the Airport songs
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. It's 2017.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like the rare moments of bliss that arise while solving the arrangement puzzle of a song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What emotion are you trying to convey with the strings or beat.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: laptop, midi keyboard, drum set, microphone, interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been touring and making records with bands for 16 years. In 2010, I started producing a lot of the records for the bands I was playing in. I went to Berklee for Orchestration and Arranging. I grauduated in 2013.

A: Orchestral Indie Rock

A: Knowing what not to do is just as important as knowing what to do.

A: Indie, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Film Score
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songwriting
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring out the core emotion of the song with each instrument.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to a song over and over to feel the core emotion of the song. I then figure out what sounds and rhythms would enhance the emotion.

A: Logic Pro X. All in the box.
