Interview with Benoit Holliger
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Whatever you can afford! it's your ears that matter!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Mmmh... I'd say a speedboat and lots of fuel?
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When I first listen to a mix, I try to hear all the previous decisons made to get there. From there I see where I need to go while respecting what has been done. Whatever it is I can bring to a song depends of what the song has to say!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Every song that comes through, even in the same project, is treated uniquely. My process is to listen to the track for a long time before putting anything on it. It is important to take a good listen to what you are about to improve because as soon as you start working on something, it becomes something else and you can easily lose track and denature someone's hard work without even realizing it. The song is what inspire the process and not the other way around.
