Fun and professional electric bassist, mixing engineer and producer. I have been playing bass since I was a wee lad and am on hundreds of recordings. It's all about what the song needs, I use various basses, pre amps and effects to get the proper tone dialed. I've played music at Red Rocks, The Gorge and various arenas across the country.
Hello! I'm Zach, a Denver based bassist, engineer & multi-instrumentalist producer. I've been recording and touring for 15+ years in the Indie, Americana, Singer-Songwriter, Rock, Funk & Pop world.
When it boils down, it is all about the song and the writer's intention. I'll be listening carefully and crafting a bass line that is complimentary to whatever each song needs. The bass is fundamental to the underlying energy of your music and I can provide the right tone, approach and vibe to elevate it to the next level.
I have a fantastic home studio with a fine selection of basses, preamps, compressors, pedals, mics and digital instruments to craft a tone specific to whatever genre is at hand. For production I have various acoustic guitars, synths, percussion toys and my favorite, an accordion.
When I'm not in the studio, I tour with Daniel Rodriguez and Mama Magnolia, and have performed with John Craigie, Madeline Hawthorne, Steve Poltz, Neal Francis, The California Honeydrops, Fruition, Gold Leader, The Drunken Hearts, Arthur Lee Land, Tyler Grant, Pickin' On The Dead, Ross James, Great American Taxi and many others.
A big achievement on mine was opening for The Lumineers on a sold out arena tour for 6 weeks with Daniel

Endorse Zach JacksonZach has the whole package. He's extremely reliable, professional, and a great hang. He is also one of the most talented musicians I know! I love working with this dude.
Working with Zach is an absolute dream. Beyond being a dynamic rockstar bass player, Zach is a born collaborator and a phenomenal energy to have in any room. Not only did he bring valuable skill and insight into producing my first single but did so while fostering a sense of creative safety and play that helped to actualize my vision for the song and transcended expectations. Stop your search and hire Zach!
In addition to being an incredible bass player and engineer, Zack brings a wonderful energy and warmth to every room he's in. He has a great ear for musical structure and tone and makes the hard work of creating music nothing but fun. I've enjoyed every collaboration and look forward to many more!
Zach is the REAL DEAL. Beyond being incredibly well rounded musically and having a great ear that is always serving the song, Zach is the type of person you want to be around because he brings such great vibes where he goes, whether that’s on the stage or in the studio. I personally only want to work with folks that are GREAT musicians and GREAT people and Zach is that type of person. Honored to have had him help shape my record, Bones, and would highly recommend his services to anyone looking to make great music and have a good time doing it.
Zach is an incredible bass player; he's always locked in, he's a good communicator, and he always plays exactly what the song calls for. Great tone, great playing, great delivery, just a great guy! Your project can only benefit from hiring Zach.
Interview with Zach Jackson
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I love the work that Damon Albarn does with Gorillaz, Blur, The Good The Bad & The Queen, his solo work and how he collaborates with musicians new and old. His expertise spans across so much, and I love his musical approach to it all.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A solid foundation, energy and tone
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Mock Turtle, Gold Leader, and other projects.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Love me some analog, but the latest digital is pretty darn good
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Doing it for 15+ years.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio set up with some fantastic tonal colors to choose from. My go to bass is currently a Harmony H22 from the 1960s. It has La Bella flats on it and is to die for through a tube preamp like my A-Design REDDI or Universal Audio LA-610. My other low end machines are: Fender PJ (Aguilar Pickups), Fender Music Master 1970s, Ernie Ball Caprice, Fender Mustang PJ and a MOOG Sub Phatty for my sub bass needs. Other outboard gear: Cyclops Audio PM 1000, Focusrite ISA One, Warm WA76, Custom Modded Grommes Compressor, DBX 1066, Shure M267, TEAC A-4010 SL Tape Machine Pedals: Moog 103 Envelope Filter, Darkglass Vintage Deluxe, MXL Bass Octave Deluxe, MXL Carbon Copy, Aguilar AGRO
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are too many to count. My original inspiration came from bassists like Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, James Jamerson, Ben Kenny and Victor Wooten, true masters of their craft. Over the past few months, I have cycled through so many bands: The Barr Brothers, Bon Iver, Billie Eilish, Parcels, Big Thief, Queens Of The Stone Age, Daft Punk, Gregory Alan Isakov, The Lumineers, The Smile, Justin Townes Earl, Kevin Morby and Blake Mills.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do is perform as a freelance/ session bassist whether it be live or in the studio. I love crafting bass lines that blend in with the true nature of each song, allowing the lyrics and melodies to flow over top without stepping on them. And on the flip side I also love laying down driving, funky, busy, and in your face lines if the song call for it.
