An engineer for Atlantic Records and award-winning music producer for television. I have the ears and skills to get your music to the next level. I can mix and master Hip-hop, Pop, and EDM. Are you ready to take your music to the next level? I stay ready, let's go! :)
The love of music has always compelled me to compose, produce, engineer, and listen to all types of genres all day, every day. Certified in Protools and Logic has helped me become faster and more efficient to make sure the artist gets their mix quicker. Collaborating with the artist/producer/composer/director is always a pleasure for me because it means we can get the project on point at its best. I do in-the-box and out-the-box mixing depending on the project needs. Confidentiality is important to me too. I want to make sure the artist and their team can trust me to keep the project under wraps until they are ready to release and let the world know it's done. I am an attentive listener to what you want for your song or project. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks :)

Interview with Jorge Ibarra
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on a song about recycling for the city of Oceanside and it recently won an award for the best PSA in the city.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: HipHop
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes, I know two people on here. Sian McMullen and Fabio Francisco. They are the best and they deliver what they promise.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both and because I'm a strong believer in Analog has flavor but Digital has quickness. I rather use a rig that has both.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I won't stop mixing until I get the sound you want for it. Satisfaction Guaranteed!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to listen to music all day.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much? This much. Do you do this type of style? Yes, I can. Can you do echo effects? Yes How long does it take to mix? Depends on how big the project is but one song could maybe be done in 2 days. How long does it take to master? Whole album in about a week.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I could push one button and have the artist sound like Whitney Houston or Nas.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What sound are you looking for? Do you have a reference I can hear from any particular favorite artist?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure they know what you want. I've had clients that would come in and say mix it your way then after I do and turn it to them. I usually get "I don't like it" or "I don't want that sound". Be clear and precise about how you want your song to sound like and don't be afraid to sound like a free spirit. Use the words that express what you want. As a mixing engineer, I will understand the feel of the words you use.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: U47, Apollo twin, Laptop, Neve 1073, 1176
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path is to have an empire and I've been doing this for about 10+ years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say it's a cool edging style.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Kanye West because I would feel like I have the chance to explore the boundaries of how sound can be heard.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Compress vocals before EQ.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop and Pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say mixing vocals are my strongest skill.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my own magic to it. I have my own techniques when it comes to mixing a song. I put my touch but I also stay true to what you want for your song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I first open a session I start organizing the stems and then I start with mixing the drums first. If it's a stereo track then I make sure the beat is EQ and compressed if necessary. Then I mix the vocals into the beat and around the beat. I make sure the vocals are clear and right above the beat so that it does not drown.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Protools 12 and I'm using my apollo twin as an interface. M-Audio monitors and dual screen.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Dave Pensado and Yoad Nevo are my biggest inspiration for doing audio engineering. They are driven by the passion for music and you can hear it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually do HipHop or Pop songs. I work on all types of genres and I'm always learning new techniques and developing mine so that your song comes out and stands on its own.
