Changing the world, one song at a time.
Hiya! Im Chase. I am a Engineer, Producer, and Musician that is trying to change the world, and the people within. When I was a kid, that was all I ever wanted to do. Coming to an age in my life where I was able to witness the bad and ugly of this world, it changed me, as it does for all of us. Some people deal with it, and some choose to do something about it.
I started playing the piano when I was 12 or 13 years old. It was a gift from a local Goodwill, given to me by my grandfather. I was excited to have one, as i've always wanted to have one, but it wasn't a financial possibility at the time. The first songs I learned were Canon In D, Fur Elise, and Demons - Imagine Dragons. After a couple of years, I decided to write my own piece, now called New Hope. That sparked off a journey that has brought me here.
What I offer here are full Mix/Masters, productions, compositions, and full promotions. I am not genre specific, however, my level of experience varies. I have mostly dealt with classical, Electronic, and Rock/Metal genres, but Electronic is my primary focus. I have been a seller on Fiverr since July of 2024, and have had great success on the platform. Now I would like to move up in the world, lol.

Interview with Austin Chase Barnes
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Recursion. Its a project that I haven't posted the original audio for. I've been torn on how to move forward with it. However, its a great "Psychelectric" song! It was a project I made about 3-5 years ago, and its something i've remade three or so times ever since. I've been thinking about releasing it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently working on some releases with another artist. You should go check out azmth!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I don't yet have any experience with analog gear, so I can't really make an opinion on that. But the latency advantage looks nice to me. But digital also has the advantage of flexibility and endless creation.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That things will be done right.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Seeing peoples excitement when they listen to their new audio.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "What's a Luff?"
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I had someone one time tell me that all I did was turn the gain up. I can't really blame them, they didn't really have a whole lot of experience, but it still hurt lol.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I typically ask questions about the song itself, and plans on releasing it. If they aren't familiar with digital distribution, I educate them on it.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be detailed and decisive about what you want.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started in music when I was about 12 or 13, when I started playing the piano. In terms of how long i've been using a DAW, about 7 years so far. I've been on Youtube for quite some time, but I didn't start distributing music until recently.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style right now is externally influenced for the most part. I have yet to find my sound, but i'm working towards it every day.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Id love to work with Adam Young of Owl City. I've listened to his music since I was a kid, and it would be a dream come true to make a song with the legend himself.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Silence can yield the greatest impacts.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly electronic, but I dabble in various genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: You know, I've always had a hard time answering that question.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I mean, its hard to say from my own perspective. I'd like to think that I bring the life and vision out in a song, but that's pretty cliche, since a lot of other people would say the same thing. In reality, what I do is something of a transformative nature. Instead of simply putting some life into it, I bring out its full potential.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Well, since all of my work is remote, its pretty simple. The artist exports their stems for the project, all being the same duration. They send these stems to me, and I import them into my DAW, and start working. I get pretty into what I do, so i'm practically laser focused until it's done.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Honestly, its not much. But my work has been sworn on by multiple individuals I have worked with. My current setup consists of nothing but a Casio LK-270, my PC, two monitors, and my studio headphones.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: A whole lot. My mom raised us on Heavy Metal, Punk, and Rock. So there was a lot of F.F.D.P., Three Days Grace, Linkin Park, Pink Floyd, mostly older bands and musicians. But as I grew older, I kept the heavy taste, but moved into electronic music. These days, my inspirations are artists like Seven Lions, Illenium, Excision, and Subtronics. I'd like to be where they are someday. Maybe then I can change the world.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Some of the most common work I do is noise cleanup. You'd be surprised how many times i've had to perform surgery on a grape to get something to sound right.
