Want something else than a "typical modern metal" production? I'm your guy. I use both digital and analog gear to create productions and mixes with character and a unique sound. Go against the grain with me.
With over 13 years of producing and mixing experience I'm finally diving into it for real.
Getting my start in FL Studio creating EDM tracks under the name "GannddaN" I over the years moved on to rock and metal music.
I'm now primarily a Logic pro X user along with gear from Presonus, Waves, Universal Audio and Line6.
Currently the guitar player, vocalist and producer of "Fire for Sleeping Giants"

Interview with Jacob Hultman
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Tide & Wave, the first Fire for Sleeping Giants record. It was our first real album and I'm super proud of us for our performances but also my production choices and the mix I was able to get down. It sounds clear and fresh but with and old school bite.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Next Fire for Sleeping Giants record, maybe some acoustic solo material if I have time.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Nope, new to the site. Sorry.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, fuck extremity.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Something else.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Well my real job is working with teenagers after school but I guess we're talking about music. I love the feeling of having made something that didn't exist before.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you make it sound like (insert band/track/album here)? No, no I won't.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I just fiddle with buttons on my computer which is true... but it also makes stuff sound cool.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's your musical frame of reference? What are your production/mix dislikes? When do you expect for me to finish? What are your expectations of me as a producer/mixer?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: What are you looking to achieve? There are so many talented people on here doing all kinds of things so it's really up to what you're looking to get out of us.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Provided I've got electricity, My computer, Logic pro, a guitar, Waves SSL channel strip and a MIDI keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Raised on classic rock music, I started making shitty EDM tracks in FL Studio at the age of 12 back in 2011. In high school I fell in love with metal music and made a switch to Logic pro. Over all those years I've delved into the worlds of punk, folk, emo and indie - all while trying to develop my band "Fire for Sleeping Giants" to a respectable metal act. Now I look for a future within the music world as a creator of things to stand the test of time.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like to dirty things up without sacrificing clarity. I've had enough of modern metal productions and I'm always looking for bands who do things differently. I love both the analog and digital world and use them to create a sound of my own.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Mastodon Baroness Anciients The Toxhards
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make yourself more important in the equation than your gear.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Anything that make's me feel something. Usually some kind of guitar-music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I use my ears and an open mind. Kinda cringe.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: That Swedish touch ;) Seriously, big guitars, snappy organic drums, thick hairy bass and aggressive vocals.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For mixing it depends on the song. Usually I start with drums, move on to guitars, bass then finish last with vocals (and other things if applicable). For songwriting it usually starts with a riff or a chord progression that makes me feel something special. From there it spirals into a hectic hyper-focused session before fiddling with it for a few weeks.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Baroness, Mastodon, Opeth and a7x are a few when it comes to bands. Steven Wilson, Kurt Ballou, Fredrik Nordström and Brendan O'Brien among others in terms of production.
