If you're looking for a great vocal sound every time, let me be the one to get it there! I'm primarily a modern rock mixer, but my vocal production techniques overlap heavily into the pop realm.
My name is Josh Thompson, and I handle a modern rock project by the name of Sinner's Rise. I handle all aspects of this project, including all of the mixing and mastering. While I am primarily a modern rock mixer, I overlap with many pop production techniques when it comes to vocals; I pride myself on a great vocal sound, every time.
To give you some of my credentials, I have had several songs featured on the YouTube Channel SpectreSoundStudios, with veteran mix engineer Glenn Fricker giving high praise to not only my mixes, but my mastering as well. I was also fortunate enough to have been in contact with mix engineer Dan Korneff (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore), receiving an "I dig!" from him directly.
I mix entirely in the box, and I am very partial to Slate Digital's collection of plugins, along with a select number of great tools from Waves, SSL, and others. I utilize Ozone and/or Slate Digital's fantastic FGX-2 mastering plugin to get a final level on a mix. If we are working on an album, I will set up our mastering chain and sound right out of the gate so that we can keep a consistent sound and feel across all songs/tracks.

Interview with Josh Thompson/Sinner's Rise
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to have a mixing session with Dan Korneff. His sounds on the Breaking Benjamin stuff are huge, and I would love to see how he does it
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: One big thing that helped me early on: learn how eq and compression interact together. Push eq into compression hard, and learn how that sounds and works in a mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: II usually work in modern rock/metal. Heavy drums, guitars, and melodic or aggressive vocals.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Tuning and processing vocals is what I believe to be my strongest skill.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring sort of a niche benefit to a song when I'm mixing - it's not super common to be able to get such a commercial sound from such a small and simple setup. I work to maintain a sound that is as close to analog as we can be in the box.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: As far as mixing, my process is typically the initial setup of what the project needs first - organizing tracks into groups, color coding, preparing instrument, vocal, and mix busses, etc. From there, with the organization taken care of, I will start mixing the instrumental as a whole before moving on to individual treatment and tackling the vocals.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix entirely in the box. I have a pair of Yamaha HS5's that have served me well for years at this point. I am partial to Slate Digital's plugins these days, especially their version of an 1176. I have quite a few Waves and SSL plugins that I love as well.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am heavily influenced and inspired by a few of my favorite mixers: Randy Staub, Dan Korneff, and CLA.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I primarily mix and master modern rock. I have also provided vocals for a couple of other projects.
