Kadi

BGV Arranger & Vocalist

Kadi on SoundBetter

I am a professional BGV arranger and session vocalist specialized in the art of vocal harmonies. With over 10 years of experience singing and arranging for vocal groups across genres, I bring a level of harmonic sophistication and "fresh" layered textures that go beyond standard background vocals.

Since graduating from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, I have worked full-time as a session vocalist and performing musician, bringing professional-grade reliability and speed to every project.

My niche is creating a custom "vocal landscape" for your music. Whether you need intricate a cappella arrangements, layered R&B stacks, or clean pop harmonies, I can craft a sound that ensures your song has top-tier harmonic depth.

While my specialty is vocal arranging, I am also an experienced topliner. I can help you craft memorable melodies and lyrics that fit with your vision.

WHAT I OFFER:
* Specialized BGV Arrangement: Custom-designed, multi-layered harmonies and sophisticated vocal textures. I typically provide a rough draft for approval within 2-3 days and deliver high-quality, raw stems ready for your mix

* Lead & Session Vocals: Professional, soulful delivery with a versatile Pop/R&B edge.

* Toplining/Songwriting: Collaborative melody and lyric writing tailored to your vision.

Interview with Kadi

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I started with singing and classical flute lessons when I was 7 years old and soon after that, I started performing at concerts and competitions as a soloist and also in jazz a cappella groups. After high school, I decided to make a career of it and went on to study music. During that period, I mostly performed as a backing vocalist for different artists in Estonia, started transcribing music, making arrangements for people, and also writing original music. I went on to study jazz in the Conservatory of Amsterdam and move to the Netherlands to get my Bachelor's here. I'm now 27 and have been a full-time musician in Amsterdam for the last 2 years after finishing my studies. I make my living with live performances in various settings and venues around the Netherlands.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: I would say that my greatest asset is my ear for harmonies. Whether it's coming up with an additional line to complement the lead vocals or figuring out the chords of a song, it comes very naturally to me and it's also something I enjoy doing very much.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: Especially for backing vocals arrangements, I like to start with hearing the clients vision for their song, and if they have any specific inspirations or ideas in mind to make sure we're on the same page before I start. As soon as I've received the track and lyric sheet from the client, I like to already record any rough ideas that pop into my head to create a framework for the arrangement. Once that is done I start adding harmonies and layers, to really build up the song and make sure that the backing vocals elevate the song naturally, without overpowering the lead, and also complement the lyrics of the song. I'll then send a draft of the arrangement to the client to hear if they like the direction that I'm taking and when they're happy, I refine the details (dynamics, lyrics, timing, pitch, etc) and record clean versions and overdubs for all the voices

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: Logic Pro X, Blue Baby Bottle SL, Audient iD4

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: My specialty is arranging and recording backing vocals: it's something I get asked to do the most and also the kind of work I enjoy the most, since I can just let my creativity run free

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: When it comes to songwriting, I would describe my personal style as jazz-influenced pop music. I love combining jazz harmonies with powerful pop-soul vocals and of course, immense amount of harmonies. For backing vocals and vocal arrangements, it really depends on the genre of the song that I'm working on. Even though I have my own distinct sound and arranging style (I love thick layers of harmonies and to use a lot of harmonic movement in the vocals), I like to blend into the song to make sure it matches with the genre.

  13. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  14. A: I have various projects that I'm part of and mainly doing live shows around Amsterdam, and am working on my debut EP

  15. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  16. A: Salea! She's such a talented and creative female vocalist, songwriter, and producer who is amazing to work with!

  17. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  18. A: I will treat your music with the utmost respect and give my all to bring it to the next level with my vocals and harmonies.

  19. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  20. A: I love that every project is unique in its own way and I can give other people joy by doing something I love.

  21. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  22. A: One of the main questions is what sound and atmosphere they have in mind for the song. That way I can find out what their vision is for the song and I get a clear idea of how to bring that to life.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: A lot of layered vocals with loads of (sometimes unexpected) harmonies!
