Alexandra Kyprianou is a London-based film composer known for her dark, ambient, mysterious, and orchestral soundscapes.

Alex is a classically trained violinist with roots in hip hop and R&B culture, bringing a distinctive blend of discipline and edge to her composing. Her versatile approach allows her to create deeply emotive, genre-crossing scores that perfectly serve the narrative and mood of each project.

Her work includes scoring several short films, such as the Malagasy drama 'The Night I Needed You The Most', the emotionally charged 'The Father', the BFI-funded 'Shoelace' which premiered at the BFI Prince Charles Cinema, as well as 'A Woman' (2025, in production). She has also collaborated with MediaTracks to compose and release tracks for their production music library.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Organisation comes first! Setting 15 minutes aside for a non-creative moment to just put everything together before your creative session starts could do wonders. It definitely saves a lot of time and energy to be able to create freely with no disruptions!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Adam audio monitors, Korg microKey, Arturia Minilab, Scarlett 2i2 interface, SC.1100 Condenser Mic. I have all the right tools to create a soundtrack or beautiful arrangements that will enhance your sound needs.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Terence Blanchard, Natalie Holt and Pharrell Williams. From Blanchard's grand and epic soundtrack in 'Blackkklansman', Holt's powerful and minimalistic composition for 'Loki', and Pharrell Williams' eclectic sounds changing the landscape of genres like hip hop, pop and r&b- there's so much innovation and originality that is very inspiring to me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Usually it's composition work for films, as well as media. I also often get hired for violin sessions and string arrangement work. Any genre and style is welcomed.
