Hi! I'm Michi, a professional drummer from Munich, adding punch and life to your songs with quality drum tracks.
With 20+ years of playing, touring internationally and being in studios all across Germany, I've developed a thing for recording and engineering drums. Over the years I've built up a permanent recording setup at my studio which allows me to offer quality drum tracks for your songs in a short turnaround time.
I will pay attention to detail while recording for you. That means getting sounds right at the source and taking time to compose and execute a drum part that serves the song well. I care about your music and will do my best to fullfill your vision.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: My good friend Karan Walia. Very talented MD & Producer.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to contribute to a piece of music and creating with people.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be as precise as you can be with what you want me to do and don't by self-conscious about your project not being good or pro enough for us to work together.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Making a rock record with Denzel Curry would be dope. Kenny Beats is producing.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Limitation is a good thing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: For the most part it's music in the genre of rock.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Paying attention to detail in the music. Seeing remote sessions as a money grab where you just shit out a drum track in 2 minutes is the opposite of what I want to do. I want to care about what it is that I am making or contributing to.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Energy & liveliness
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I always like to setup a zoom meeting with the artist / producer / band first. It's mainly to get a vibe for the recording so I ask about influences, references and what they don't like. Then I start by actively listening to the song and roughly charting it out. I also take notes with my initial sonic ideas. Meaning what snare tuning am i hearing, which drum kit am I hearing. Is it a rather open tuning or are we using a lot of dampening. Next thing is going to the kit and dailing in a sonic starting point using those notes. After that I make sure to come up with a drum part that fits the song and ties the arrangement together. Then it's tracking time.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It's a pretty simple 16 channel interface situation, couple of microphones and a variety of drum kits, cymbals and percussion on the other end.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I grew up listening to Punkrock so players like Travis Barker, Josh Freese or Brooks Wackerman have been very influential. Production-wise I enjoy the diversity of someone like Kenny Beats' work and also everything that Zach Hill and Death Grips do.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly record live drum tracks for artists & bands.
