Interview with Daniella Goldfine

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am very proud of the song I released with Noam Bartov called "Wartime Lullaby". We wrote the song together for a project (he arranged it and composed it, I wrote the lyrics and sang), then we performed it. Afterward he wanted to produce it so we went ahead and produced it and it came out so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Look it up on all streaming platforms!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My 2nd album of my original music!

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: What is your vision for your song? What references can you give me for vocals you want me to emanate?

  7. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  8. A: Acoustic Guitar Laptop + Ableton Focusrite 2i2 P90 Audio Technica Mic My trumpet!

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I have been singing since I was a child. I started performing in musicals from the age of 8, acting and singing solos in front of audiences. In middle school I began learning guitar and soon after highschool began writing songs. In my early 20s I played at many open mics and built up a charismatic and comfortable stage presence. I went on to produce my own album in my bedroom, and have now played many shows and am working on a 2nd album, while also doing a degree in singing at the Jerusalem Academy of Music.

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: Freak Folk, Indie Folk, Singer Songwriter

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: Rufus Wainwright - he was my idol growing up, I always wanted to sing like him and have songs with fantastic instrumental arrangements like his songs. I also would love to work with the Punch Brothers, their music is beautiful and inspires my very much songwriting wise.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Get to know a song well before you start working on it - then the singing will come naturally out of your strong relationship with the song.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: I am drawn to folk and singer songwriter music, but love working on all types of music that excite me.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Singing in tune, and making a melody sound comfortable.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: My love of singing. My melodious and clear vocals. My unique perspective on your melody. My playful experimentation with the melody. My best!

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: We start by discussing the project and I can get an idea of what exactly you want. Once you send me an instrumental with a vocal guide (can be bad quality, I just need the melody and lyrics to use as reference), I listen to the song many times to become familiar with it. I bring my best self to a song when I know it well! Once I'm ready to record, I take it to my recording space, do a vocal warm up, and get recording! I record multiple takes and send you 2-3 of the best ones, so that way you can use your favorite take or comp from all of them. (Or use them all and have a double vocal!)

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I record from a sound treated room using the following: Audio Technica P90 microphone Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface Ableton Live 11 recording software I deliver clear and unmixed vocals, with several takes for you to take your favorite bits from each one.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: I am inspired by singer songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Rufus Wainwright, Joni Mitchell, TheAngelcy....the list goes on!

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: Singing main vocals for all types of genre (folk is my favorite, but I've also done R&B, rock, and others!), as well as ad libs and backing vocals.

  • Performing tonight!Aug 27, 2024

Excited to be performing at a pub in downtown Jerusalem tonight called the Hetzi Tuki. The space there is lovely, with a big courtyard and a tree smack in the middle. Will be doing my original stuff, just me and my guitar!
