Interview with Caleb Cornwell
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Your mix will never be “perfect” to you. You will always hear the bad because it’s yours.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, metal, country and blues.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Time keeping. I was one of the fortunate few that was born with it.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The ability to groove with any style.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Speaking with the artist to get an idea of what they are feeling for the specific piece. Then listening to the piece and getting my own feel for it. I generally write and record multiple tracks to offer choices for the artist.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run 32 channels of audio interfaces into my DAW. I have been using studio 1 professional for the last couple years. I am enjoying it so far. I also use cubase.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are so many drummers that inspire me it would be impossible to list them. I take certain things from each of them. That, in my opinion is what has made me a well rounded drummer over the last 3 decades.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Writing and creating for other people’s projects. Being able to bring out a defining sound with a well crafted drum track.
