Interview with Siyeon Choi

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I released two digital singles last year and I'm proud of them because they are my first official works and I dedicated myself as a producer: I composed, wrote, arranged, and played instruments.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Recently I've got to enjoy using paper and pens rather than typing on my smartphone or computer. I like feeling the tip of the pen scratch the paper's surface.

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: I'm not lazy. I'm creative.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I've been a musician since I was 12 years old. I learned how to play the acoustic guitar by myself and soon made my song.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: I prefer artists who are sensitive and considerate. They will make me comfortable and it helps to be creative when I sing or make toplines.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: Computer: Mac mini M1 Audio Interface: Scarlett 2i2 Mic: MXL 990, SHURE SM58 (with a reflection filter) DAW: Cubase Pro 12 Acoustic guitar: Taylor Academy 12e Electric Guitar: Squier Jazz Vibe 70’s Stratocaster SSH Electric bass: Squier Jazz Bass

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I give my breath to the vocal melodies and lyrics you made.
