Interview with Jury Skipin

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: My studio isn’t large, but the space is well-treated, providing an accurate representation of sound. The main monitors I use are Adam A7V, which give me a precise and reliable audio picture. I always make sure to check my mixes across multiple devices to ensure they translate well in different environments.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: I'm inspired by a wide range of genres, both in terms of music I enjoy and the styles I work with. In the metal scene, I’m influenced by bands like Sleep Token, Black Veil Brides, and Architects. When it comes to indie music, which I also work with, I draw inspiration from artists like David Kushner, Noah Gundersen, and Elliott Smith. These artists, with their unique sounds and emotional depth, constantly push me to experiment and evolve in my production techniques. I'm also inspired by several audio engineers whose work I admire and try to learn from. Adam 'Nolly' Getgood (Periphery), George Lever (Sleep Token, Loathe), and Ilya Lukashev (Therr Maitz) are among those whose techniques and sound shaping skills I truly respect. Their work with these bands has had a major influence on my own approach to mixing and production.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: Most of the time, I focus on mixing and mastering for my clients, always striving to get the best possible sound from the mix. I’m also flexible when it comes to tasks like guitar reamping or drum rewriting through digital programs. If the drum recording quality isn’t ideal, I can enhance it through digital tools to achieve a professional sound. Ultimately, my goal is to help artists achieve the best-sounding track possible.
