Interview with Ramón Esteve
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My journey into music began at the age of 13, thanks to my uncle, a talented turntablist who introduced me to the world of DJing. Captivated by the craft, I quickly delved deeper, starting to create my own productions by age 14. My passion for music led me to perform at my first club shows shortly after, marking the beginning of my professional journey. At 18, I made a pivotal decision to fully commit to music production. I relocated to Berlin to pursue formal education in Audio Design, an experience that shaped my technical skills and artistic vision. By the age of 23, I signed my first publishing deal, a milestone that allowed me to immerse myself further into the music industry and expand my professional network. As the music industry evolved, so did my focus. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have concentrated on hip-hop and Afrobeat, genres that continually push the boundaries of innovation and creativity. In 2022, I joined the production team BLNT, a Berlin/Accra/London-based collective specializing in Afrobeat. This collaboration has allowed me to explore new musical landscapes and work with diverse talents across different cultures. From my early days as a DJ to my current role in a prominent production team, my career has been a journey of exploration and growth, driven by a relentless pursuit of innovation in music.
