Interview with frequencyexclusive

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: TBA :)

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both. Analog does things the digital domain tries to recreate and vice versa. Eventually the two will be even but until then analog still holds king.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: Prepare to be "impressed"

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: The creative process.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: It can be done in an hour or less! Mixing takes time and requires the engineer to be sensitive to every tone and space. Integrity first and foremost.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: What are your potential goals of the record? What feelings are you trying to convey?

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Expect the best!

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: Manley Massive Passive (Hardware), Distressors (Hardware), MPC X, and a pair of Barefoot Audio MM27's

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I've been in the field for 15 yrs., never thought I'd honestly be doing music for a living. I wouldn't change it for the world!

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Big Bottom with a curvy top.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: Drake. He's king in the jungle as of the moment

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Cut>Boosting

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: All types ranging from EDM, Hip-Hop, to Rock

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Production/ Mixing

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: Character and feeling. Records without a feeling don't have a soul.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: My mixing process starts with the vocals & from there I move on to drum stemming. From there, I adjust the remaining instruments in a cohesive fashion to blend with the surrounding canvas.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: At Oscillation Studios, we're running a hybrid digital to analog setup with an SSL AWS Console at its center of distribution. 32 Channels of I/O with an Apogee Symphony MKII as the studios interface. We own a variety of hardware equalizers, compressors, and vintage preamps to add tone and clarity to given projects.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre and the lists goes on. Constantly being inspired by new & old.

  38. A: Production/ Mixing Services.
