Sebastian Kierkegaard on SoundBetter

A film lover, only wanting the best underscore for your film. Have worked on a bunch of Danish short films, composed, conducted and arranged orchestral music for musicals, been working and is playing in orchestras and love symphonic music as well as contemporary hybrid scoring. Whatever works with the film is good film music. That's my philosophy.

I study film music at the prestigious Danish music high school, Sankt Annæ Gymnasium. I started playing the cello at 9 years old, but as I had always had a special interest in the movies, due to my father's love for the craft, I realized my real purpose. When I played "Pirates of the Caribbean" in my school orchestra, I knew I loved the art form. During the first year of high school, I switched major to film music, an option not possible at the time. But with insistence on my part, the class was started and I now pursue it as my full-time job.

At the summer of 2024, I joined the Film Scoring Academy of Europe Summer Program. This is one of the most insightful life experiences, I got to work with the amazing European Recording Orchestra on 4 session for various clips. I know quite a lot about the business and have worked with directors of diffrent styles and workflows. Whether working with live musicians or fully digitally, the most important thing and mission for me as the composer, is to deliver a satisfying musical underscore for the project I'm working on. I am responsible for the process, no matter the size of the project. I want to give the audience the right feelings and emotions, while watching your piece of work. Dosen't matter which genre, style or concept it might be. Film music should support and compliment the picture.
