Interview with Soy Levin

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: In my opinion, I like to use both, since I can play with the best of both worlds. With digital, you can use any instrument you can imagine and experiment with hundreds of them. Although I feel that digital is never going to match what exactly it is like to hear an analog instrument. Listening to a musician play an instrument live is something magical, which digital will still take time to match. And we should not repudiate them either, the question here is what has not been possible to create thanks to digital.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: That through my music I can create a whole world of scenarios, feelings and emotions, experiences, fantasies, and so on... All from my computer and my microphone.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Synth, bass, drums, and a theremin, I guess. It's all you need if you want to make something similar to my music.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I would like to define my style as something "psychedelic". All my productions have a hint of "Ambient" or "New Age" in them, which makes them somewhat relaxing but at the same time with a touch of rhythm. I want to believe that my music is heard as if we were in the last century, and someone had started experimenting with the first computer that had production software.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Stop worrying so much about how people are going to receive your work, and start enjoying the process. Every day put a little more of "you" in your productions, don't be afraid to be vulnerable, learn more every day. And after that, by the time you release your next production, you will be the most satisfied person in the world.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: My main inspiration when making music has been due to various artists such as "Jack Stauber", "Clairo", "Strawberry Guy", "The Marías", among other great artists and bands.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: Many people who are similar to my work always look for me for the production. For them my instrumentals are quite interesting, since they have a very peculiar style. Despite not being a professional. I have managed to stand out in the sector for the ideas that I put into each of my productions.
