Interview with David
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How may I better serve your art?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A melodica, a handdrum, a jinbei, a kalimba
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Blend of classical, and somewhat of Hiphop jazz fusion.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Usually where piano / keyboard is needed in a band setting, not limited to genre.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Whilst aim to understand the context of the composition, I bring my own comprehension of how I hear it on piano, what the song needs while not overdoing it to the point the importance of the song diminishes.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Recording: Nord Stage 3 stereo output, a USB PreSonus interface where it connects to my 13 inch MacBook pro, everything is recorded to Logic Pro.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Airtists like Yusef Dayes Trio, R+R=NOW (plus Robert Glasper's later projects) not only in terms of the music content and atmosphere that draw to me the most, but also how they approach the production of their sound both from musician and producer standpoint.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have mostly been in studio sessions both in person and remote.
