Producer & Mix Engineer

Country, pop, rock production

Producer & Mix Engineer on SoundBetter

I'm a Nashville based producer, mixing, and mastering engineer specializing in country, pop, rock and everything in between, using a songwriting centric approach and mindset with my projects. Working with up and coming singer-songwriters and artists from Nashville to New England, I've built a solid and diverse portfolio spanning over 150 releases.

As a songwriter, I view the production process as an almost extension of the songwriting; making sure every element serves and elevates the lyrics, story, and intention. I work with artists to make sure their music is tailored to them and their authenticity while also delivering a radio ready product. With my knowledge of both trending music and popular music from the 60s-80s, I achieve fresh, contemporary, and unique productions and mixes while also maintaining a piece of timelessness to each project.

I offer a range of services and project types, from full productions to demos to acoustic recordings.

I record, mix, and master nearly all of my projects in my home studio: The Interstellar Sound Station. It's a large treated space set up to record live drums, acoustic and electric instruments, and also has a vocal booth. I'm also available to work with clients beyond Nashville.

I studied production and audio engineering at the Berklee College of music in Boston, where I graduated in 2018. While I principled in guitar, I am also well versed on piano/keys/synthesizer, bass, banjo, mandolin, and lap steel. I have contacts for other instruments such as drums, and violin/fiddle that can be utilized for additional fees.

Interview with Producer & Mix Engineer

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: I work on a lot of country music but I love working on synth pop and have a background in rock music.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: My strongest skill is my ear for songwriting and arranging. The songwriting informs every arranging and production decision.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I take a songwriter centric approach to each project, making sure it's tailored to the story the song is telling as well as the artist's sound. I achieve modern, fresh, and radio ready sounds while embracing a sense of timeless for the music I work on.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: For full productions I start with tracking a scratch guitar/piano and vocal with the artist. From there we track drums and bass and then build the rest of the track around that. Once the artist is happy with the production, we record the final vocals, harmonies, and background vocals. After the vocals are done the song is mixed and goes through mix revisions with the artist. Once the artist has green lit the mix, it's mastered

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: My rig is powered by an Apollo Twin, combined with a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, and Presonus Audiobox; paired with a set of Yamaha HS5s. My studio is wired up and equipped to record live drums, and features a vocal booth with a Avantone C-12 tube mic. I produce in Logic Pro X and mix in Pro Tools Studio

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Jack Antonoff is my production hero. I'm so inspired by the diversity of the sounds he uses and his philosophy of taking nostalgic elements and fusing them with cutting edge sounds to create unique sounding productions. I'm also a big fan of Serban Ghenea's mixing work. As a songwriter I'm a big fan of Taylor Swift and her lyricism which constantly inspires me to write better songs.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I mainly work on full production projects with artists and songwriters, which include recording, mixing, and mastering songs end to end. Both in my home studio and remotely
