My passion is to find the heart of your song—to uncover what makes it unique, personal to you, and emotionally resonant. Every stage of the music-making process is collaborative, and mixing is, or at least should be, no different.

Understanding what inspires you, musically or otherwise, is really important to me. That's why I encourage you to send me whatever materials might be useful to me in the mixing process - a reference mix is the obvious choice, but it could also be a poem, a piece of art, a photo, even a Pinterest mood board. Anything. It helps me enter your headspace and the creative ecosystem of your work.

I lived for many years in Nashville; now I live in New York. I've worked in all aspects of music: as a songwriter, a session & touring musician, a producer, and an engineer. So I'm intimately familiar with all valences of the creative process, and that helps me bring out the best in your work. I've been lucky enough to work with some incredible musicians and songwriters, from Annika Bennett to Jack Van Cleaf to Brittney Spencer. I hope to work with you too! :)

Here's a selection of things I've produced and/or mixed:

Josh will forever be one of my favorite people I've had the pleasure of working with. He goes out of his way to make sure each song sounds the best it possibly can. Anything you throw his way will be a night and day difference.

Interview with Josh Warren

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I want you to be proud of your work. This is your song, not mine, and it's my job to align the mix with your vision. I promise that my process will be anchored by your vision, and hopefully, together, we can elevate the final mix above what you could've imagined.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Mixing feels a bit like sculpting: all the raw material is there to start with. The song's essence is somewhere in the heap of unmixed tracks, just as the sculpture is somewhere in the block of marble. It's an incredibly enriching process for me to sculpt out a song – to give it contour, color, and form.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: My style changes with every song – I let the song inform my approach to the mix.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I mix with a songwriter's mentality. Here's something I see fairly often: a songwriter will lose touch with their own work throughout the production and tracking process. That spark of excitement they had when writing the song is somehow lost while recording it. The thing I love about mixing is returning a songwriter to that original place of excitement and inspiration, where they reconnect with the original intent of their work.
