Ferny

A Cappella Mixing & Mastering

I have a passion for giving songs a strong, balanced, and punchy low end.

Hi! I'm Ferny, a relatively new engineer looking to get started with mixing and mastering for others. I'm currently going for my 3rd year into getting an Independent Recording and Production Bachelors Degree at Berklee College of Music. While I provide an overall balanced mix, my biggest strengths and also passions of mine I have are my bass and drum mixing. I will not rest until my clients leave with a good ol' punchy bass line and drums!

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: A strong and punchy low end.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I love the process, it's so much fun seeing it go from separate audios into one whole track.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Look at the provider's audios and see if that's the sound you're looking for. And also communicate, that's very important.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: My headphones, mac and charger, a fan cause this heat's crazy, and that's it.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I started during quarantine, suddenly found a liking and interest for Mixing and now i'm going for almost 5 years.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: The Bass Gang, they're a rising A Cappella group and do hope to get to Mix one of their songs or even sing with them one day.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Don't overthink it, you don't need these massive vocal chains to make it sound dope.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: A Cappella

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: Managing to keep the low end strong while not interfering with everything else.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: A strong low end while keeping everything balanced and clear.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: Usually I start with organizing stuff to move around easier and then i start with the rough mix. Then I tune if necessary and after that I start adding everything else.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I personally work on Headphones, working on building my own studio but that's a longterm goal. My ears are very tuned to my headphones.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: My main inspiration for Mixing is Ed Boyer and for Mastering Bill Hare.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: I'm just starting out but Mixing, Mastering, vocal tuning, editing, and singing.
