Interview with Karla Sro

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: To deliver a world class, competitive sound that stands up to major-label releases, without ever losing the human essence and "rawness" of your art.

  3. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  4. A: Question: "How can I ensure the best vocal quality from home?" Answer: "Tell me your exact setup. I will guide you on how to maximize your specific gear, and I will always recommend tracking in a controlled environment to ensure we start with a clean take."

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: If we are working remotely, I always ask: What recording equipment and microphone are you using? Are you recording in an isolated booth or a treated room? What are your top 3 reference tracks for this song?

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Communication is key. Don't hesitate to ask for technical advice before you send your files. Be clear about your sonic references, and make sure your stems are properly consolidated in WAV format without clipping.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I was born in Chile and moved to Miami, I studied Music Technology at Broward College and cut my teeth doing live audio for concerts ias an intern. From there, I transitioned into major studio work, engineering and assisting on mastering/production for industry like ASCAP Latino, Splice, Billboard, and top-tier artists like Daddy Yankee, Ricky Martin, Lena Dardelet, Akapellah and Arcángel.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: When working remotely, your recording environment is everything. Before you even think about vocal tuning or mixing, evaluate your room. Always track in an acoustically treated space or an isolated vocal booth if possible.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: My deep specialty lies in Metal, Rock, and Pop Rock, but I have extensive experience in Pop and Urban music.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Bridging the gap between technical perfection and deep emotional expression. I know how to make a track sound huge and pristine for a mass audience while protecting the raw message of the artist.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: A dual perspective. Having worked on Latin and Urban songs, I know exactly what standard is required for a song to compete in the mainstream market. At the same time, my roots and personal projects are in rock and metal, meaning I know how to preserve the raw, emotional, and human energy of a track so it doesn't sound over-processed or sterile.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: or remote mixing or mastering, it starts with technical communication. I like to know exactly how the files were recorded. Once I receive the consolidated, high-resolution WAV files, I get to work and deliver the first version within 1 week. The service includes up to 3 rounds of revisions so we can perfectly align the final product with the artist's vision.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I primarily handle mixing, mastering, and full music production (including instrumental creation, arranging, and vocal production). If a client is local to the Miami area, I also run studio recording sessions.
