Interview with Sondre S.

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: I take some time to organize things. It's important to organize to have an efficient workflow and get good results. Then I usually mix, drums usually first, then the rest comes in bits and pieces. I usually mix with some light compression on the mixbus. Then at the end I get the finishing touches through mastering getting it streaming ready.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Bringing a song to life. Making it sound great. When it comes together at the end is the most satisfying feeling in the world.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Listen to the provider's portfolio. Go with your gut, if it sounds good, do it. If not, find someone else.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Usually rock and metal, but I love to work on most genres.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: My studio is treated with rockwool. I have 2 x 5 inch speakers with a 10 inch subwoofer. I know my equipment and environment well which makes my mixes translate well.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I draw inspiration from a wild variety of musicians and genres. From 80s pop and rock to modern metal. Some musicians that inspire me are Opeth, Animals as Leaders, Meshuggah, Mastodon, Gojira, Steven Wilson, Adam Nolly to name a few.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: My most common work is mix and master. I mix the tracks and then I master it to be streaming ready.
