Interview with Lov3Them
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I don't like to focus on what I have already done. I only ever look at what will happen tomorrow.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I am devoting myself to both my artistic activities: music and body art. It is tiring and not a little, but it makes me happy.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital! We are in the third millennium and as much as analogue has its charms, it is a thing of the past.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: The promise not to be trivial.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to convey emotions.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Question: "Will you do the first track for free? If I then like the way you work, I'll let you do other productions, but always at a discount eh'! Answer: "Definitely. But you have to call me on 30 February in the year of St. Never".
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Oh God, what kind of question is that? Everything can be right and wrong.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Just one question: what are you looking for?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: He must be very patient and put up with me. I am a workaholic.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: First, my fretless bass and my beloved Ibanez Limited Edition guitar. Finally, my Mac, sound card and speakers. I make do with little.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing as a bass player and then switched to guitar. Over the years I have also learned to strum the piano out of necessity. Only in recent years have I become interested in music production, which I find very challenging.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A cauldron of various styles and influences. I like to mix seemingly irreconcilable musical genres and then see what comes out.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Unfortunately, most of them have passed away. If I really have to choose between three who are still alive: Paul Simonon, Steve Hackett and Midge Ure, because of their great influence musically and otherwise.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Too vague a question. Something more specific about instruments or music production?
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love working on Post Punk, Darkwave, Goth Rock and Synthpop. I also like to work on other genres, including Funky, RnB, Progressive Rock and Reggae.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Passion, passion and passion.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: It depends on my role in the song. If I work as a session player, I follow the requests of the person commissioning the work. As a composer I let myself go with what I like to do. For production, on the other hand, I try to make my own mark on the sound, trying to respect the requests.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My work process? Simple: I start at 6 7 a.m. and go on until 9 p.m., with a few short breaks, until the final goal is reached.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've got a small studio recording, but well organized, with everything at the right place. except for the drums, which I can't play and therefore don't own.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: On the bass, I was influenced by Mick Karn, Paul Simonon and Bruce Foxton. As a guitarist, my absolute idol is Steve Hackett.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have no problem working as a fretless bassist, guitarist and songwriter. I also do music production as long as the genre and style is compatible with my tastes and skills.
