Award nominated engineer, recent work on Afterlife, Zamna, Anjunadeep, Crosstown Rebels, Warner and Apple Music. 20+ years experience in electronic noise.
English professional mix and mastering engineer, specialising in electronic dance and pop music. Delivering high-end mixing and mastering to a range of budgets. I love noise in all forms!
In 2024 I'm delivering club and radio ready mixed for artists such as Henri Bergmann, Booka Shade, John Monkman and Birdy.
Nominated for 'Best Produced/Engineered Record' at the 2016 UMA awards and recently mixed the score for the hit Netflix show 'Lockwood & Co.'
I have 20+ years experience, first as a producer/performer and for the last 10+ as a mix engineer.
I'm comfortable and experienced in a range of styles from atmospheric, experimental pop to high pressure dance music for festivals and clubs. I'm not a standard engineer as I have decades of experience performing music on big systems, including 3 times in the dance area at Glastonbury Festival and I know how your music should sound in that environment.
I will work closely with you to help achieve your vision and with great passion and drive. I'm happy to offer advice and tips to help you move forward as an artist.
I work out of Idealnoise studio in London UK in an acoustically treated production suite with Hedd and Amphion monitors. Ableton live is my main workstation and I use hardware by Neve and SSL.
I'm flexible with budgets and process and would love to discuss how I might help you achieve your complete sound.

An excellent engineer! Matt went above and beyond to make the tune sound lush and exactly how I wanted it. Couldn't have hoped for a better mix and he managed it even on a tight turn around. Highly recommend!
Working with Matt was simply amazing. His attention to detail was exceptional and his patience throughout the process was beyond anything we could’ve hoped for in an engineer. The mix and master was spot on and the quality truly exceeded all our expectations! Looking forward to working with him again!!
Interview with Matt Allaby
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Add until it sounds good then back it off a bit, or a lot.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A sensitive ear for how the project feels. A successful piece is all about feeling and if the listener cannot interpret this then my number one priority is to help them find it. How this is technically achieved is with 20+ years of experience.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Discuss with the client first how they feel, where/how they envision the project and decide what will be the most suitable path forward for them and me as a collaborator. There's many ways to do this but the best way is to do it properly and that means remaining flexible to the clients needs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Custom built room with Hedd Type 30 MK2 monitors and Bass 12 subwoofer. Amphion one15 as my second reference. RME ADI-2 FS converters and SSL Fusion for extra sweetness in mastering. I have various rack processors and analogue synths as I'm also still an active producer of my own and my clients productions.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Anyone creating with honesty, life and vitality.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mostly mixing and some mastering on projects I haven't mixed. I can and will do both if requested but I really think you get the best result if you separate the two.
