Dan Pepper

Powerful Mix & Master Engineer

Dan Pepper on SoundBetter

The power and energy of an emo banger liberates the heart, as music should. The concepts and practices developed over years are not only perfect for the current pop-punk resurgence; they can expand the character of almost any genre. In fact, just about any stadium touring live band has an audio team that employs these methods.

Welcome, music-lover! My name is Dan. Since age 5, I've learned the drums completely by ear. Even in high school band, I had a buddy play the snare bits and I'd just have to memorize it before class. I've since learned to read music while retaining that keen ear that helped me fake it for years.

Now, I've recently set up a home recording and mixing studio. Much of my old work is on youtube to chronicle my VERY humble beginnings. I have loads of experience with drum editing, including time stretching. I'm also comfortable working with bass, guitars, synth, and vocals (especially harsh). I keep the concepts of emo production in mind while I mix because there's something useful in it for any song you want more feeling from.

I'm dedicated to this and will always give you a product that I'm proud of. Set me on the task and I will endeavor to bring your audio to a new, polished, radio-ready life!

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Dan Pepper

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Ever heard of Incubus? They've got a lot of hits but not many people know how experimental they are with their sound capabilities. To create with them would be eye-opening.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Creative use of phase cancelation can actually be used to clean up bleed in a recording.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I have used my physics education to effectively soundproof my basement. Half of it is a recording suite with my drum kit, a clavinova electric piano, and a vocal booth. My microphones are lower-mid grade, but good positioning works miracles. The other half is the editing lounge. I was more picky about my monitor speakers, since it's essential I hear every detail. Also my cat, Winston loyally naps next to me every time I mix.
