Interview with Craig Simonetti

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My latest song "Stressed" is my favorite track I've worked on. I was able to bring elements of a cappella and beatboxing into a pop/funk track that sounds like a chart topper. I wrote, produced, edited, and mixed the whole thing, sending it to a friend of mine for mastering named Eric Scholz.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Trust in the process, but don't be afraid to share your ideas. The reason you're here is that you want to make great music and you have an idea of what that sounds like. Trust that too.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: I would love the chance to work with Lawrence! They're music is so fun and energetic, they bring amazing local vocalists into their process all the time, and they make music that I can relate to.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Spend the most amount of time on recording. Get it right at the source, and the rest will fall into place (with some knowledge of where to let the pieces of fall, of course)

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I usually work on pop/funk and a cappella music.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: listening. I pride myself on my ability to take in other's ideas and help them get out exactly what they're looking for, if not expand upon it.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I use a home studio setup with ceiling and wall sound dampening panels, rugs on the floor. I use an SM7B for consistent vocal recordings and an MPK mini for midi production.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Jacob Collier, Jon Bellion, Snarky Puppy, Panic! At The Disco (to name a few)

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Most often I produce backing tracks and write songs for my clients. We collaborate in a way that feels authentic to them but gives them the best result.
