Interview with Rawnce Prod
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been listening to records for as long as I can remember. Music was always in my household. I've been studying music since I was 8 years old and I've been producing for the last 7 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern, groovy, psychedelic, laid back.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen to a lot of music, analyze it in an obsessive way. Deconstruct every layer you listen. Do not be afraid of trying something that goes out of the rule.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rnb, Neo Soul, Hip Hop, Pop and Indie.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to put an original twist to every production I get my hands on. I believe that in times where a lot of music is being put out, equations are being repeated exponentially. That is why I like to work an original sound with my clients.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the track I receive. Most of my clients tend to send just a vocal demo or a voice/guitar demo. After listening a couple times and matching the track references I'm provided, I'll start working around it. Most of times I leave personal suggestions regarding on structure/melody after I sent the first delivery.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record mainly with a Nord Stage 3, an American Fender strat. Synth sounds are a mix between hardware (Dx7, Moog Grandmother) and processed VST's. All of them are run through an Apollo Twin.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Kevin Parker was a great influence on my sound, both as a musician and a producer. I also like Kamaal Williams a lot. Other influences range from Fleetwood mac, Mac de Marco, Homeshake, Yellow Days, Bryson Tiller, Dua Lipa.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Full production of a song
