Interview with Alexander
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I want listeners feel what I feel through a song taking them through a journey of emotions.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: To work for free -> No, unless you are Ryan Tedder or Max Martin : - )
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I understand that we are all looking for perfection... First, I would listen to your arrangement and decide what my voice can do on it. If I see i have a connetion with a song, I sing along with an arrangement through the mic on my phone, then you decide if my singing is what you are looking for (I don't take any money for it). Withing a week or two we discuss all the singing moments on a song, then I record vocals in a professional studio. The rest is yours.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotions, a little drama and (sometimes) darkness
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: To listen to singers' samples more carefully when choosing one - listen to at least one song from a beginning to an end, and you will understand what a singer is about
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually prefer acoustic songs, but I like experiements (e.g. I provided lyrics & singing for a trance DJ, cool experience 'cause in my teen years I wanted to become a trance DJ)
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On my debut EP, it's going to be quite emotional and sad :)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I don't just sing to showcase my skills, I try to deliver emotions through a song
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What did you feel when you wrote the song?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: The photo of my family, the piano, my favourite classical music sheets, a lighter, and the fifth... hm, may I take a cat?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Leona Lewis - her voice moves me, she knows how to deliver emotions through a song, the way she mixes her chest voice & falsetto is just wow (her high notes ah...) Ryan Tedder - so ear-friendly lyrics, so professional, down to earth, and he worked with Leona :) Emeli Sande - a good songwriter, creative, "without boundaries", interesting person
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm very inspired by Roy Orbison' singing style, the man takes you on the ride of emotions from the first seconds
