Eva Gou

Singer-Songwriter / EDM, Indie

Eva Gou on SoundBetter

I'm a professional singer with 15+ years of experience in recording sessions. EDM, indie, soft ethereal vocals, and beautiful vocal harmonies are my expertise. Let's collaborate and bring your musical vision to life!

I can produce airy, soft tones, melodies with melismas, as well as clearer and more defined vocals. I have a passion for recording vocals and consider myself very versatile with my voice.

Singing and writing songs are among my greatest joys in life. I treasure every moment doing it and deeply value each project I undertake. I pay close attention to every detail while maintaining spontaneity and freshness in each production. I'm dedicated to every project, prioritizing client satisfaction and understanding their artistic needs to deliver outstanding results.

For recording, I use a Rhode NT2 with a Scarlett Focusrite pre-amp in Logic Pro. I prefer playback through CLA Wave Plugins to ensure top-notch quality. However, I deliver high-quality dry-mono 24bit 48k.wav files.

Upon starting your project, I'll provide a rough mix for your approval and offer one round of revisions if necessary (minor edits). Once you greenlight the project and release funds, I'll promptly send all the stems.

Let's collaborate and bring your musical vision to life!

Interview with Eva Gou

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of the works I'm most proud of is my upcoming debut album, soon to be available on all platforms. You can listen to one of the tracks on my profile :)

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I've just finished my debut album, which will soon be available on all platforms. It's an album that I composed and produced myself, and the gratification is immense.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I highly recommend the mastering service of Andres Mayo and the production expertise of Dat Garcia.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I enjoy both types of sound, depending on the context. Generally, analog sounds have a more emotional and authentic imprint, a closeness that resonates deeply. On the other hand, digital sound offers a plethora of intriguing sonic possibilities that I also love to experiment with :)

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will exceed your expectations, and you will be delighted with the results. I promise the process will be enjoyable and pleasant. I am open to receiving suggestions and special requests regarding vocal use. I am ready to create and experiment.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I thoroughly enjoy singing and spending time recording. I've been doing it since I was young, and I love it more every day.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: If I send you an instrumental, can you write a song with it? Yes, I can! You can either send me lyrics and I'll create the melody, or I can do both the melody and the lyrics. What does your vocal production include? It depends on the song and your vision, but it can include lead vocals, double tracking vocals, vocal harmonies, ad libs, and more. How long does it take from start to delivery of the project? Approximately one week, depending on the complexity of the project.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Fortunately, I haven't encountered any misconceptions in my work. I always strive to clarify my clients' needs as much as possible before starting the project.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: When I receive a project, I always ask if my client has any references or preferences regarding vocal tone, the type of melody they envision, whether they want melismas or a smoother vocal, if they prefer vibrato or not, and any other specifications to perfectly understand their idea.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Simply don't hesitate to reach out! I'm open to receiving various types of projects. Send me your track, and let's discuss your visions for that project. Together, we'll make your song shine!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Definitely my computer, which serves as a great source of inspiration, my audio interface, and microphone, my headphones, and my guitar. These are all fundamental pieces of my everyday life.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I was born into a large family of musicians, with both my parents being producers. Growing up, our home was equipped with a recording studio, igniting my curiosity for microphones and studio life from a young age. I began recording backing vocals for my father's productions as a child, gradually delving deeper into the art of vocal recording as I grew older.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I believe my style is generally very sweet and emotionally resonant, soft and ethereal. Indie pop, folk, and electronic music are genres that complement the tonal qualities of my voice exceptionally well.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with James Blake or Björk, as they are my favorite artists. The depth of their work, their lyrics, melodies, and productions are simply wonderful.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: I enjoy recording with a touch of reverb and compression in the monitor mix, so the vocals feel integrated into the mix from the start.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I have extensive experience working with EDM, indie, pop, folk, rock, and Spanish genres like boleros and bachatas.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Singing soft ethereal vocals and creating beautiful vocal harmonies.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I can bring a sweet, soft, and emotional voice to your song.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: When a client contacts me for a collaboration, I ask them to send the track they want me to work on. If the song is already written, I request a reference vocal and the lyrics to ensure the key fits within my vocal range, making sure the song will shine with my voice. I also ask for references and suggestions regarding the desired vocal tone, specific style, and links to singers with a similar sound. Once I have all the details, I get to work. I take my time to record and enjoy the process, then edit and send an MP3 with a rough mix for the client to review. This initial process is typically completed within a week. If the client has any revisions (the purchase includes two free revisions), I request the details and make the necessary adjustments. Once the client is 100% satisfied, I finalize the order and send the separate dry vocal files, allowing the client to create their own mix and take it to the next level. When a client asks me to compose a song, they sometimes provide lyrics for me to work with on the melody. I also enjoy writing lyrics and melodies, so if needed, we can discuss the topic and style they are looking for in their production.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: For recording, I use a Rhode NT2 with a Scarlett Focusrite pre-amp in Logic Pro. I prefer playback through CLA Wave Plugins, ensuring top-notch quality. However, I deliver high-quality dry-mono 24bit 48k.wav files.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I deeply admire the voice of Billie Eilish and her vocal productions, which showcase great skill and interesting textures. I also admire the voices of Rosalía, Grimes, and Lana Del Rey.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Generally, my clients hire me to sing a song and create its vocal production, including backing vocals, ad-libs, and beautiful harmonies. Other times, they call me to write songs with instrumentals they provide.
