Giulio Beltramo

Male Singer

Giulio Beltramo on SoundBetter

Alternative, Pop Male Singer (first tenor range, sweet falsetto and powerful full voice) with over 18 years experience, chart-topping song, award-winning music, national representative, easy to work with, creative at heart and excited to collaborate on your projects.

As a London-based, South African alternative singer-songwriter, I craft a uniquely multifaceted musical experience, deeply influenced by the expressive freedom of the alternative genre. As a proudly gay artist, I bring a distinct perspective to my work, blending introspective lyrics with explorative melodic and harmonic compositions. With over 20 years of musical experience, I have honed my craft to create an authentically original sound.

My extensive musical journey includes singing for the prestigious London Philharmonic Choir as well as playing for the South African National Youth Orchestre, where my classical music background and profound fascination with the arts further enrich my performances. My talents have earned me nominations for various awards, and I have proudly represented South Africa on the international stage. My music is a captivating testament to my artistic dedication and unique voice in the world of alternative music - earning me charting spots, editorial playlistings, festival performances and the like.

My creativity spans beyond music and into video production and direction, visual art, and physical theatre - all of which I have had the privilege of academically studying and professionally sharing. These all blend together in both my songwriting and singing experience.

Interview with Giulio Beltramo

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Baggage, my latest single. I just went in with the mindset of openness. It was such a personal song to me, but so liberating to see how others could take it to where it landed.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A new EP!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes - I have worked with some great artists here Thomas Priestly and Nicolas Essig, to name two!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Either

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: That we won't stop till we make the perfect piece!

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Creativity, and that no day is the same!

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: Why are we making this piece of music?

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Don't be afraid of the creative process and come into a session looking to explore. Music is so special because it is often a collaborative affair. You can write the best lyrics, but sometimes its someone else's brain that can construct the melody to deliver those - you have to be open to that.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: A guitar, my violin, a microphone, a loop pedal and a piano! (Would need a big backpack!)

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: My whole life! Professionally, for about 9 years now.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: Alternative Pop with hints of folk and country.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Jack Antonoff - he just has such a versatile understanding of music and creation

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Always leave time at the end for improv. You often find the gems in that!

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Alternative, Pop, Rock, Classical, EMD

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Singing/song-writing

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: My classical background grounds me in great theory and understanding of melodies and harmonies, and my lived experience and creative mind help me see things differently. So my sounds and lyrics are often multi-faceted.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: It's always very project- dependent but I am versatile and adaptable.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: Mic and recording system

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: I'm a massive fan of Fleetwood Mac, Maggie Rogers, Phoebe Bridgers, Harry Styles, Troye Sivan, Charli XCX, Holly Humberstone, Jack Antonoff, Lorde

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: Lead and Background vocals, and song and lyric writing
