Vince is extremely talented. He brings to song what sprinkles bring to a cupcake: Flavor. This artist has lost of potential and a very colorful personality. You can really tell he enjoys what he's doing and you wanna work with someone like this!

Interview with Vince

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Typically the answer is my own. I'm able to tell my personal story with each song.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am working on personal a project and I work free lance with Sony Music.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Matt Sim, amazing mixing engineer!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. Portability is a major component in what I do, especially when I have to travel.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: That you will be able to confidently press play in front of anyone.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I like connecting with new people and hearing their version of what I've written.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Will you make edits if need be? Yes, I will. Edits typically don't need to be done though, because I give you the best possible product.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That you can only make a living by being in the spotlight or working with the majors. I know plenty of people in the background that make the best songs.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What songs/artists sound similar to the one you're going for. What about it/them do you like? The lyrics, melodies, production?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Give me an example of what you're trying to execute and I'll come up with something similar.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: MacbookPro, Power Supply, Keyboard, Microphone, Kayak :)

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been doing this professionally for 2 years. I apprenticed Grammy Award winning writers, learned from them, now I'm applying what I've learned.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is "smooth" and blue.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I'd like work with Frank Ocean. I'd like to know the deeper meaning behind his metaphorical lyrics.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Go with feeling and repetition.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: R&B, Pop, Edm, Acoustic Pop

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is flexibility. I can 99% of the time nail what the artist/producer is going for.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a story, always.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I'm typically presented with the artist's vision, I ask some questions to better understand where they're coming from, then I ask for a song example of a similar song. Ideas are first hashed on the piano (if no instrumental is provided), then I got in the booth to lay out melodies. Lyrics come last and form the characters story.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work from home. I use pro tools for recording and Ableton Live 10 for production. Equipment: Macbook Pro Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Rode NTK Sennheiser HD280 Pro Yamaha HS8 Avalon VT-737sp M Audio Oxygen

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: James Fauntleroy, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd. They take risks, but produce extremely catchy melodies.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: My work is done both in the studio with artists and in collaboration via e-mail/SoundBetter as well.
