Interview with Gabriel Guerra
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Every artist paints differently and it is so fun to see how different people make music. I enjoy exploring those new approaches.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Which artist right now are you inspired by? What is your goal you are trying to achieve? What type of sound do you want?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask many questions! I am new to this site, which means that I do not have a long record yet of my work yet. I am aware of that and want to ease the mind of any customer by just getting to know you and your goals as well as you getting to know me.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a live sound engineer for university venues and some small concert halls. I studied audio engineering during that time and through that, worked in studios here and there as an intern, helping with recording vocalists and bands. I eventually started producing for friends around me and then starting practicing mixing and mastering and now I aim to continue that practice on soundbetter. That journey was about 5-6 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Fun, chill, and easy going.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on EDM music since it is what i gravitate too. However recently, I have been producing Lo-Fi and Hip-Hop which is fun.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Possibly being personable and a team player within project environments. I love working with other creatives. The music process and music itself is meant to be shared with people.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I spend time understanding the customer's wants and goals. The technical (loudness, balance, and tone), and the dream (to sound like a certain artist). I spend time listening to their reference tracks a bunch and internalize it. Then I start engaging with their project and work my way to the specified goal(s).
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I commonly do production services for people in my circle. That sometimes includes all pre and post-production work.
