Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, the neon-green queen that is KANNER has arrived. Her infectious energy, lethal pen, and knack for super unique concepts and intimate and personal writing screams to convey her unique perspective as a self-proclaimed BULL IN A CHINA SHOP. Most notably as a writer, she co-wrote the Katy Perry single that served as the theme song for the 2021 Pokémon 25th Anniversary Campaign, 'Electric'. KANNER was recently featured on the cover of the Created by Women Spotify’s editorial playlist as part of their Notable playlist series for co-writing Rhea Raj’s “Devil in a Dress”. She has forthcoming cuts with PVRIS, LøLø, Oxymorons, The Lunar Year, and Rain City Drive that are all expected to be released later this year.

As an artist, KANNER released her debut single “BULL IN A CHINA SHOP” ft. 93FEETOFSMOKE this past Spring in anticipation of her debut EP later this year.
Kanner has quickly become a real force in the songwriting scene over the past two years with credits on songs for Katy Perry, Royal & the Serpent, Krewella, Siiickbrain, Rebecca Black, Scene Queen, Honey Revenge, Mckenna Grace, and more.

    Kanner is one of my favorite go-to songwriters! She is great with concepts and lyrics and comes up with melodies super quick! We’ve made many songs together across all genres !

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am extremely proud of co-writing the song “Electric” by Katy Perry for the 25th anniversary of Pokémon! My collaborators and I came up with the original melodies, lyrics, and production.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently working with several bands helping them finish their upcoming albums, lots of K-Pop records, my own EP, and some very exciting pop records!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: There are incredible songwriters on here and I highly recommend checking them all out!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Honestly it depends what you are looking for! Some sounds fit projects better than others.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: That we will get a unique to them song!

  12. A: Helping people tell their story!

  14. A: A lot of customers ask what I think about their ideas and at the end of the day what makes music so special is that it comes from a unique individual!

  16. A: That it’s easy and that AI could do it.

  18. A: How can I help you better tell your story?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice would be to have a clear vision of what you are looking to create!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Oooo good question! 1. SM7: one of the best and most consistent sounding mics! 2. A never ending notebook and a pen!!! Gotta write down all those ideas!! 3. Some sort of laptop or ipad to cut vocals and create! 4. Headphones! Gotta have some way to zone out all the sounds of the island! 5. A collaborator!! It’s always way more fun to work on music with others!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been writing songs in LA for over 10 years! Before LA i was in New York interning at several studios and labels learning anything that I could!

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is left of center!

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would LOVE to work with Rihanna! She truly exudes what it is like to be a creative visionary and has a one of a kind sense of self!

  30. A: Nudge the vocals a hair late!

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I work across all genres! Normally it is in the pop or alternative space but I also do a lot of rhymic/ hip-hop records as well!

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Lyrics and concepts! I love getting to help artists and bands tell their story!

  36. A: I bring interesting and unique lyrical and melodic ideas to a song!

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My typical work process is to get to know the artist/band and what they’re looking for/working on. Whether that be and album or a single and what themes or lyrical concepts that they’d like to dive deeper in. I also love hearing if they have any references musically or visually.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I record vocals normally on an SM7B. I use logic to record vocals and also for vocal production.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I am inspired by artists such as Avril Lavigne, Ashnikko, Doja Cat, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell, PVRIS, Twenty One Pilots, Yungblud, Halsey, and many more.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I’m normally in the studio almost every single day writing lyrics and melodies as well as working on vocal production.
