Pierre Andrews on SoundBetter

I am a versatile mixer/producer and have worked with Akon, Slim Thug, Talib Kweli, and Grammy-winning producers Play N Skillz.

I also produced the national ad campaign music for Mizuno Shoes, Exxon Mobil, Custom Ink, and Slim Fast. My music was featured in Morgan Spurlock’s “One Direction: This Is Us”, NBC’s the Voice, Discovery Channel's "Curiosity", and more.

What sample rate and bit audio should I send?
- 24bit, 44.1k (minimum) sample rate is preferred.

Should I send dry or wet files?
- If you like your sounds wet, send them wet. If you're not sure, send both dry and wet. Dry/unprocessed lead vocals are preferred.

How many mix revisions do you allow?
- For mixes, I allow unlimited revisions (within reason). I want to make sure you're 100% happy with your mix!

What's your turnaround time?
- My first revision can take up to 3 days but I usually send within 1-2 days.

When sending your mix files, please also send me your rough mix and a commercial reference track so I can get an idea of the direction/vision.

- For producing a song where I write and record all the music, I typically allow 3 revisions and request 33% of writers' publishing.
- For producing a song where the music has already been written, I allow 3 revisions and request no publishing.
- Turnaround time is about 3-7 days depending on the scope of the project.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Pierre has one of greatest ears to detail when it comes to mixing music. I had him mix a version of my song “Dont Talk” and he smashed it out of the park! He is easy to work with and great in making the mix exactly to your liking. I highly recommend working with Pierre and look forward to doing it again.

Interview with Pierre Andrews

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Don't be afraid to ask a ton of questions and call me anytime you have questions. Communication is key to providing you with a quality song.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: SSL G Channel Console, Lexicon reverb, Sans Amp, API 2500 compressor, Soundtoys Echoboy

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: Playing guitar since I was 10, piano since 12. Producing music seriously for over 10 years. I worked at Sony Music for 5 years, then toured with my old band Big Red Rooster across the country. When the band split I started producing music for commercials, publishing, and teaching piano.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I'm very technical. I am a classically trained pianist so can easily get to the heart of what my client wants by asking the right questions.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: Calvin Harris, he's an amazing producer that has broken genres and musical boundaries.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Flow is everything. Being tasteful is the hardest part of producing a hit.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: All kinds, but specifically pop, edm, rock, soul, and funk.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: Production and sound design skills that make my songs sound professional to compete with radio hits.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: First I usually ask clients for 3 reference tracks and want them to tell me what it is about those songs specifically that they like. EX: the drums sound huge, the vocal melody is catchy, the drop sounds dope, etc...

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: - Producing sonically pleasing songs and instrumentals. - Writing catchy vocal melodies.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: Hardware: API lunchbox containing API 512c pre-amps, shadow hills compressors, and great river pre amp, Yamaha HS8 studio monitors. Software: Waves, Soundtoys, Softube, UA plugins (too many to list). Mac OSX running Logic Pro X. Interface(s): Universal Audio Apollo Twin. Digi 003 with Black Lion Audio Mod.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I love producers like Calvin Harris, Zedd, and Martin Garrix. My favorite artists include Bruno Mars, Muse, Post Malone, The Black Keys... I love ALL great music.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: I compose and produce instrumentals of all genres. My focus is on pop, rock, edm, funk, and soul.
