Frank Marra

Engineer and Musician

Frank Marra on SoundBetter

A dozen years of engineering experience, with twenty years of bass playing thrown in for good measure.

The most important part is the performance. Let me worry about doing the technical stuff, you just play the best you can. I promise it will be a great recording.

Interview with Frank Marra

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: The only constant is meeting with the client and discussing what they are trying to do. It's always different from there.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I am currently working out of North End Recording in Passaic, NJ. They are a Pro Tools HD equipped studio with great preamps, outboard gear, and an Otari 24 track.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: Real, honest music.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both, because why not use all of the technology at your disposal to create the best sounding piece of music you can?

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: Have you practiced the songs enough?

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I like helping my clients realize the full potential of the project they are working on. Helping them feel relaxed to get the best takes possible is very important to me. The performance is the most important part.

  • Another great weekend in the studioMar 14, 2017

Just spent three great days with Rocky and the Chapter at North End.  This is the second EP that I have engineered for them.  They brought in Kevin Dye to produce, and I think the result is going to be absolutely fantastic.  Cant wait for everyone to hear it.
