Interview with Joshua Barrett Wheatley
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: 70s inspired drums with layers of lush acoustic guitars. Sometimes glitchy, but all in service of the song itself.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop. It's such broad space that you can do pretty much anything.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I can fit wherever you need me to. I could topline while you produce, I could assist with writing while producing too or I can just play guitars for your track. Happy to discuss whatever you need.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio with multiple condenser and dynamic microphones, a few synthesisers, Universal Audio Apollo Twin etc
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Death Cab For Cutie. Such wonderful and melancholic songwriting. I love producers like Ethan Gruska, Jack Antonoff & Ariel Rechtshaid.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Songwriting and production predominantly.
