Little Ear Productions is a partnership focused on creating recordings using primarily live instruments, taking songwriters from embryonic idea to release ready master. Jamie Howell and Graham Sims have worked on a multitude of projects as producers, performers and writers, and are dedicated to working closely with artists to realise their vision.
We take artists through a process starting with preproduction (composition, arrangement, instrumental and vocal parts) and the creation of a demo, before consulting and receiving feedback which shapes the final recording and mix.
Jamie is a guitarist, bassist and drummer working in genres including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Drum and Bass, and Classical. He has performed at major festivals and venues in Europe, and has recorded, mixed, produced and released his own music from his home studio. In recent years he has taught music production at the University of Southampton where he is completing a PhD in composition.
Graham is a producer, mix engineer and guitarist. Whilst he specialises in Rock and Pop, he has also overseen the recording, mixing and mastering of a range of musical styles and ensemble types. This breadth of knowledge, and exposure to different techniques and musical genres is evident in Graham’s creative approach to production. Always keen to share his knowledge, Graham taught sound recording and music production whilst in the role of Musician in Residence at Shiplake College.
Working together, Jamie takes on the role of part writing and tracking while Graham mostly works with editing and mixing. We both develop song structures and basic ideas and find that bouncing ideas off each other is a valuable opportunity to create strong, creative productions.
