Mixing/Mastering Engineer and Professional guitarist delivering release-ready Pop, Rock & Metal tracks!
Looking for guitar tracks with character, or a mix that actually sounds finished?
I'm a session guitarist and mixing/mastering engineer with a Master's in Audio Production, additional training at Berklee, and formal audio engineering education from Universidad Javeriana. I work primarily with extended-range guitars (7/8-string), which means I bring tonal options most session players can't — heavier low end without losing clarity, or textures that fit modern Pop/Rock arrangements that need something extra.
On the mixing side, I run an SSL UF8/UC1-based studio in Logic Pro, and I treat every mix as if it were going to mastering the next day — clarity, punch, and translation across systems are key.
What you get:
Guitar tracks recorded with multiple amp/tone options per part, so you have choices in the mix — not just one take
Mixes delivered with stems, so you retain full control even after delivery
Drum programming with Steven Slate Drums for hyper-realistic results, ready to drop into your mix
Editing/comping to tighten timing and performance
Typical turnaround: 3-5 business days — rush options available
3 rounds of revisions included, clearly scoped before we start
I've worked on productions ranging from Pop and Latin to Heavy Metal.
If you have a reference track in mind, send it — I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit before we start.

Interview with J. D. Benitez
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work in rock styles of all kinds, I have done quite a few arrangements for ballads, the composition and recording of guitar tracks is usually a large part of my work, whether in metal contexts, through rock, pop, funk, even gypsy jazz. I also offer audio post-production, from editing to mixing and mastering.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my studio I use a Macbook Pro M3 Pro with two screens to record, edit and mix all my work. I use SSL control surfaces to enhance my workflow. I record through a Scarlett 18i20 interface. I use an Audio-Technica AT202 condenser mic, a Telefunken Cooperhead bube mic and some Shure dynamic SM57 to capture almost everything. I count with a variety of instruments, including an 8 string guitar, a 6 string bass, an Ibanez FRH10N, a steel and nylon acoustic guitars, also Marshall and Peavey amps.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: As a guitar player I get a lot of my inspiration from players like Andy Timons, Synyster Gates, Jason Hook and Andy James. In the field of music production I love Chirs Lord-Alge´s work, also Kevin Churko's, Andrew Scheps.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My best ability is that I am able to listen carefully to music and quickly adapt to the context in which I find myself, which allows me to solve efficiently.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always think in favor of the music, not virtuosity, complexity or simplicity, think about what your song needs to convey the message you want and how you want it.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always do my best to provide great expressiveness and a clean performance depending on the musical context I find myself in. When I mix and master I bring great tonal balance, a defined stereo image and punchy low end.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Initially I have a detailed conversation with my client where I ask for the necessary details to be able to give a concrete direction to the project. A date is agreed for the first delivery and review, the necessary corrections are made until the customer is satisfied with the product.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do arranging, recording, mixing, mastering and sound design on demand. I always strive to have a good working relationship with my clients and I put all my effort into ensuring that they leave happy with the result.
