I compose R&B, melodic rap, and hip-hop beats for artists with something to say. Intentional drum work, space for your voice, I avoid pre-made loops. Get something original. 25+ years producing, ASCAP-registered. Catalog at beatsbymoody.com.
I've been producing since the early 2000s, which started because I was writing my own songs and needed beats for them. That's still how I think about production — from the artist's side, not the beatmaker's side.
My sound sits in Alt R&B and melodic rap with trap-influenced drum work and space for vocals to breathe. I primarily work in Maschine with premium soft synths, which means tweaks and revisions are fast and the beats can move with you instead of locking you into a fixed arrangement.
What you'll actually get from working with me: original production (no pre-made loops), responsive communication, and a producer who treats your project like it matters because to me it does. I still release my own music under the artist name Sanktifyd, so I know what it feels like to be on the other side of the mic, waiting for the beat to come back.

Interview with Moody
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I generally work on R&B type beats but with hip-hop or trap drums. This is why Alt R&B is a natural space for me.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is being able to anticipate the artist because I'm also an artist. So I've learned how to create beats that are "simple" but highly effective, which then allows for the artist to shine.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I've learned how to channel ME into the composition. When you hear my production, it's my sound. Not someone else's, so the biggest thing is you are getting a piece of my soul.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I am a melodic type producer, so 99% of the time I start experimenting with chord progressions until something resonates with me. Once I find a progression that I like, I then start working in drums and then I will iterate between the two, while adding in elements in sub and then instrumentation.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I utilize Native Instruments Maschine, Komplete Kontrol, and many soft-synths. My audio interface is Universal Audio and I made use of features like Neve Summing when mixing in LUNA. When mixing, I have Event reference monitors along with a 10" KRK sub, but I also use VSX headphones (recent addition). I'm currently using the Universal Audio Sphere microphone.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: During my formative years, I was influenced a lot by producers like R. Kelly, Mr. Lee, and Dr. Dre. You'll hear elements of them in my production, with a lot of leaning toward R. Kelly.
