Interview with Eli Hanson
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog when available, but there's nothing wrong with digital. I love tactile work environments over mouse and keyboard. Analog almost always sounds better too.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing music as career for close to three years
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Vibe over technical ability will prevail every time!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Heavy music, hardcore, death metal, metal core, emo/alternative music. Open to any style at all, I love experimenting with sounds and genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being persistent in my work. And going above and beyond with every project.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: REAL WORLD experience and knowledge.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the project obviously, but I start with open communication with the artist to set clear expectations, then I work incessantly on it until it's complete!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a pretty standard home studio setup. PC and Mac computing, Reaper and Logic DAWs, Universal Audio, Focusrite, and Presonus interfaces AD/DA, M Audio monitoring, and a plethora of guitars, basses, drums, amps, pedals, and cabs.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Steve Albini, Andy Wallace, Randy LeBouef, Maor Applebaum, Will Putney, Will Yip, and many of my peers in music
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
