Interview with Laurent Kill

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m especially proud of my latest EP “INFLUENCE”, where I handled the entire creative process, including composition, production, songwriting and vocals.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently working on new original releases and collaborations, while taking on a limited number of production projects for artists.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital. It offers flexibility, precision and allows me to focus entirely on creativity and sound design.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise to be fully involved, detail-oriented, and to respect the artist’s vision while bringing my own creative perspective.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Helping artists turn an idea or emotion into a finished track they feel proud of.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Clients often ask if I can match a specific reference. My answer is that I aim to capture the feeling and direction, not to copy an existing sound.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That producing electronic music is mostly about plugins or technical skills, when it’s actually about emotion, intention and artistic direction.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: What is the vision or emotion you want to convey? Do you have references or inspirations? What is the intended use and timeline for the project?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Have a clear vision or emotional direction, and be open to collaboration. The best results come from trust, communication and shared artistic intent.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: Laptop, headphones, MIDI keyboard, audio interface and a reliable pair of studio monitors.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started producing electronic music independently and gradually developed my own sound through releases, remixes and collaborations. I’ve been actively producing for several years, focusing on both artistic projects and client work.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Emotional, melodic and bass electronic music with a strong focus on atmosphere and identity.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I’d love to collaborate with artists who value emotion and experimentation, and who are open to building a unique sound together rather than chasing trends.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Focus on the emotional impact of the idea before overthinking the technical details. A strong vibe will always translate better than a perfect mix.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Emotional, melodic and bass electronic music for artists.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Sound design and building emotional, modern electronic productions.

  34. A: A strong musical identity, emotional depth and attention to detail. I focus on creating tracks that feel cohesive, intentional and artist-driven.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I usually start by discussing the vision and references with the artist. From there, I develop the core idea, build the arrangement and refine the sound. Feedback and revisions are integrated step by step until the track feels right.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I work from a dedicated home studio with a fully in-the-box setup, focused on sound design, composition and detailed production work.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
