If you ask me to mastering work, I will give you a sample first. If you don't like it, I don't charge you.

Hello, I am JY Lee, a Korean mastering engineer in U-il SoundWorks Korea Seoul. I specialize in mastering works such as drama and movie OST, BGM, Kpop, etc.

I have a studio with the world's best indoor sound that can monitor the entire human audible frequency flatly. Also, I have worked with various musicians for more than 10 years to meet the needs of various customers.

If you request the work, I will provide the sample first for free. This is a sign of my sincerity for trust with you.

Visited his mastering room and immediately noticed how poorly many of the music we’re adored about had been mishandled in the post-processing, even though my sense of sound isn’t exceptional! When this room and Mr. Lee’s dreadful yet astonishing dedication to sound come together, it guarantees the disappearance of all barriers between your musical intent and the listener.

Engineer Lee mixed and mastered some of the albums in my career.

    The sound quality was excellent.

Also, I was able to hear various stories about how to identify
and improve the weaknesses of my arrangement and instrument selection.

JY Lee is an engineer who has a variety of options
n the process of creating sound and can present them appropriately.

Interview with JY Lee

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The NAK! H! album by CHOI NAK TA was the most memorable. I was in charge of mixing and mastering all the tracks in this project. The artist trusted and followed me, and we got a very good result.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently calibrating my vacuum tube hardware. All my analog hardware is periodically meter-checked, keeping me in shape.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: SoundBetter is not well known in the Korean market. I will gain good experience here and introduce it to many clients.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog and digital are not an alternative area. I work by gathering only the advantages of analog and digital.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I guarantee every customer a detailed explanation of the work process. Also, customers who request work for the first time online will receive free samples to prove their skills.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Just before one song is released, the greatest joy is that I can listen to it before anyone else.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: My customers usually ask if they can correct various kinds of noises that the mixing operation has not solved. I answer that it is possible in most situations.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people misunderstand mastering as a task of increasing volume. Large playback volumes are just byproducts, not goals.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I usually ask what kind of music style I enjoy listening to on a regular basis. Also, if you have a reference track for the music you're working on, please let me hear it.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: In the Korean market where I work, there is no online market for musicians. The core of the online market is mutual trust. To win your trust, the first work will not be paid.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Knives, large Disney dolls, lighters, fishing lines, thick clothing

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started my career as a music producer. Fellow musicians around me even entrusted me with mixing and mastering tasks. Meanwhile, I found out that I have a talent for mastering. I have been working as a professional mastering engineer for about 10 years since then.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My work style is very simple. I work to make all the songs sound as intended by the artist, but also attractive to the public. I choose just one out of countless cases.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I enjoy working with artists who like to say what they want.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: There are experts in every field. Trust them.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I do mastering work regardless of genre. In terms of ratios, there are a lot of Kpop style and OST work.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I also serve things that are generally known to be impossible in mastering. For example, precise work is possible, such as removing various noises in the vocal part and reducing only the tick sound of a specific part. In addition, it is possible to restore the files lost in the original multi-track.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Maximize the advantages and hide the disadvantages so that the artist can feel the way he intended. For example, it controls all the subtle lip noise.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I do hybrid mastering work that only brings together the benefits of plug-ins and hardware.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My mastering studio is set up with a 2.4 monitoring system with a base array system. It controls the room mode that exists in the room, allowing you to hear the sound very precisely. In fact, if you visit my studio's homepage, you can see the actual measurements of the room. Therefore, I can provide my customers with amazingly sophisticated mastering data.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I am inspired by many musicians from all over the world. I also have a long history of producing music, so I know the feelings of musicians better than anyone else.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I master all genres of music. Among them, I work a lot on Kpop, EDM, OST, etc.
