Matt Carter on SoundBetter

My objective is to support the artist, honor the essence of the song, and elevate the music itself. Collaborating closely with artists, I strive to craft exceptional, expressive, and dynamic mixes & masters. My expertise lies in remote Mixing & Mastering, offering swift turnaround times without sacrificing quality.

Having had over 15 years experience in the music industry I have had the opportunity to collaborate with many producing heavy weights including the likes of Jolyon Thomas (known for his work with Kendrick Lamar, U2, Royal Blood), Larry Hibbit (associated with Lauren Hibberd, Sea Girls, Nothing But Thieves), King Ed (contributing to Baby Queen, Beaux, Years & Years), Geoff Swan (with credits including Caroline Polachek, Anne-Marie, YUNGBLUD), and Pete Robertson (known for his work with beabadoobee, Crawlers, and as the drummer of The Vaccines). Through this experience I have been able to gain an insight into the secrets and techniques used to create an exceptional song to a commercial standard, and look to share this with people who want top quality production brought to their own music.

This experience has landed myself and the people I've worked with numerous sync placements, including Pro Evolution Soccer, Eastenders, Made in Chelsea, Hollyoaks and BBC Sport to name a few.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Matt Carter

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: Writing and producing music is my passion, however I absolutely love working with new artists to bring them a quality and sound they didn't know was possible for themselves and knowing that they walk away happy and satisfied with the end result.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: I always love to know what music you're listening to, what else you're working on, and any reference songs that you're particularly inspired by for the project in question.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: I have a passion for quality Pop production standards, but have a keen ear for adapting to an individual's style and needs whatever the genre to allow their character to shine through.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I now own a small but professional studio setup in the heart of Wales, with acoustic treatment I built myself to the specifications of the space for the most reliable sound.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: I find most of my inspiration comes from up and coming artists with a new interesting take on production or lyrical concepts. This pushes me to have innovation at the forefront of my process. Solomonophonic, Chrome Sparks and Mattman & Robin are currently some of my favourite producers.
